Chinas first Nobel Peace Prize.

Imprisoned Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo was chosen as this years laureate. The peace prize will be awarded along with $15,000. China has been responding furiously since the decision was made on October 8th. They feel that Liu Xiabo, who has been imprisoned for eleven years for "inciting subversion", is a criminal and shouldn't be receiving this award. Liu Zhiqin, a government spokesman, says that awarding a criminal a nobel peace prize, has created over 1.3 billion dissidents within china. China has warned other countries of the consequences attending this years event because there are going to be a hundred countries and chinese people boycotting. The nobel committee has sent out sixty five invitations to other countries, so far nineteen of the invites have been declined.

Utah Plane Crash

Last night, in a residential area in Utah, a plane went down causing power in over 1,700 homes to go out from 5:58 pm to around 7:10 pm. The plane hit two homes--one with three members, and one with two. No one in either of the houses were seriously injured but both caught on fire leaving a great deal of damage. The pilot (Clayton Roop, 46) survived the crash, but was in critical condition at the scene and was taken to University of Utah Hospital where he remained stable. A nearby elementary school was opened up for those who didn't have heat or lights in the area. The reason for the crash is still unknown, but visibility was minimal because of great amounts of fog and wouldn't fully clear until 9am Monday.

Publicist murder.

On november 16th, Ronni Chasen, a Hollywood Publicist was found shot in her mercedes in beverly hills. She had just gotten back from a party after attending the hollywood premiere of "Burlesque." Following the murder the man they considered a "point of interest" shot himself inside the Harvey Apartments in Los Angeles. His neighbors told police he was bragging the previous week about killing her and how he would be making $10,000 for doing so and was still waiting for the money. The neighbor (Terri Gilipin) said she decided not to call because he had always seemed paranoid so they didn't take it seriously. Another neighbor told police he always described himself as an ex-convict and talked about being in state prison for drug use and possession of fire arms. He told the man if it ever came down to going to prison again, he would rather kill himself. This makes him a person of interest for obvious reasons. The police scrambled around the area of the suicide and found a store clerk who saw the man frequently. He says the man always talked about a $10,000 settlement, but he didn't think he would be capable of handling the weapon or carrying out what appeared to be a professional shot. As the police entered the lobby to approach the man, he backed away, refused to put his hands up, pulled out a pistol and shot himself. Police haven't released a motive for the shooting, but the death was ruled homicide without a clear suspect.

labordayweekend.

Labor Day weekend was extremely eventful. I spent all of Friday at the root note downtown and met an acoustic musician who had been finishing up a set. My friend and I started talking to him and met a couple of his friends. We spent the rest of the night with them and ended up making plans for the following day to go see his full set in Minneapolis. We ended up driving there on 3 hours of sleep, saw the show, went out to eat and then said our goodbyes. We were surprised we even ended up going because it wasn't like us to drive three hours to hang out with people we had just met, but we ended up having an amazing time. When Sunday came I was drained. We had the family over for a while and I got to take pictures of my cousins that I haven't seen in forever. They stayed well into the night and we sat around a fire and had a really good time. Overall it was an spontaneous and eventful weekend. I spent time with the family and met some of the most amazing people in the world.

iamwhoiam.

Hi. My name is Whitney. Music is my life. I love playing guitar and writing acoustic music. I recently toured the country with a couple other bands, and it was an incredible experience. I met so many other musicians and people. I involve myself in anything that is art related. I am a huge fan of photography and painting. I find inspiration in the changing of seasons, especially autumn.

I am a horrible over-analyzer. I put too much thought into every move i make and every word i say, and that tends to make my writing a bit over-dramatic. At the same time, I think it gives me creativity and an opportunity to capture very minuet details.
